SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 21, 2014) – ETSU forward Joao Ramalho (Monte Santo, Brazil) has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Oct. 13-19. The selection is made by the league office.
Ramalho led the Bucs to an undefeated week with a win over Furman and a draw against Wofford. The redshirt sophomore from Monte Santo, Brazil, scored once in each contest.
Against the Paladins on Wednesday, Ramalho had the lone score of the game in the 38th minute as the Bucs picked up the 1-0 win.
In Saturday’s 3-3 draw against the then-league-leading Terriers, Ramalho scored in just the fifth minute of action to stake the Bucs to the early lead.
Ramalho took the honor for the second time this season, as he was also the league’s player of the week on Sept. 2.
ETSU (6-6-1, 2-3-1 SoCon) returns to action Tuesday at VMI (1-12-1, 0-6-0 SoCon) at 4 p.m.
Also nominated: Carson Brooks (Mercer), Alex Guerra (VMI) and Nestor Jaramillo (Wofford).
