ETSU to hold Senior Night Tuesday, Oct. 28

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 24, 2014) - ETSU and Furman played to a scoreless draw through the first 44 minutes of action Friday night; however, a trio of Furman goals was too much for ETSU to overcome as the Bucs suffered a 3-0 road setback in Greenville, S.C., snapping ETSU's three-match unbeaten streak.

The Buccaneers (7-7-1, 3-4-1) could not repeat the success they found against Furman nine days ago when ETSU defeated the Paladins (8-4-3-, 4-3-1) in Johnson City, 1-0.

Making his first career start in goal, freshman Ryan Jorgensen (Maryville, Tenn.) and the ETSU defense held Furman scoreless through 44 minutes before surrendering a goal just 19 seconds before intermission, with Furman's Evan De Ycaza providing the go-ahead score for the Paladins.

De Ycaza struck againthis time just 32 seconds into the second halfgiving the Paladins a 2-0 lead. De Ycaza, a sophomore forward, is Furman's third leading scorer on the season, having recorded three goals and one assist.

ETSU recorded five second-half shots, including two on goal; however, the Bucs could not find the back of the net.

The Paladins put the game out of reach in the 55th minute with a goal by Kevin Edelmann.

With the 3-0 victory, Furman extended its winning streak to three matches, while simultaneously snapping ETSU's unbeaten streak at three.

Redshirt sophomore Joao Ramalho (Monte Santo, Brazil), the reigning Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, recorded three shot attempts for ETSU. Ramalho leads the Bucs with 10 goals and two assists on the year.

Freshman Robin L'Excellent (Digosville, France) and junior Henrique Novaes (Vinhedo, Brazil) each recorded a pair of shots for the Bucs.

ETSU was outshot in the match, 17-9, with Jorgensen making two saves for the Bucs in his first career start.
