Bucs have recorded a 3.0 GPA in every semester since 2016

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2020) – For consecutive years, the ETSU men’s soccer team has earned accolades off the pitch, garnishing another United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.

The award is recognized for teams that have maintained a combined 3.0 or better GPA throughout the team. United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

Dave Casper’s side has proved to be equally committed to excellence beyond the pitch as well as on it, making their eighth appearance on the prestigious award list since 2011. The Bucs have continued their strong progression in the classroom in the Casper Era, with the program achieving a 3.0 GPA or better since his arrival in 2018.

“I am very proud of this team and the work they have put in both on and off the field,” Casper said. “They are constantly striving to push themselves to be excellent in everything they do.  I want to thank all of the people in the academic support department, especially Linda Dobele, for all their work to help support our players in their academic studies.”

ETSU joined Mercer and Furman as the only three schools in the Southern Conference to achieve the accolade in 2020.
