KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 26, 2021) – The ETSU men’s soccer team was recognized for its hard work in the classroom last year as the Buccaneers received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic award, which was announced by the committee last Thursday.
The Bucs, who have received the accolade for the third straight year and the ninth time in the last 10 years, generated a team grade point average of 3.58 in 2020-21.
“I am very proud of the effort this team continues to put into their studies. Excelling on and off the field is important to us,” said head coach David Casper, whose Bucs have receive the award in all three of his years at the helm. “I would like to thank Lauren Aksionoff, Elizabeth Forbes, and the rest of the academic support staff for all their help to achieve this award.”
Nineteen Buccaneer men’s soccer players were placed on the SoCon Honor Roll in 2020-21, while 12 received the Commissioner’s Medal for having GPA of 3.8 or higher.
A total of 609 soccer teams (224 men, 385 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2020-21 academic year.
