LEXINGTON, Va. (Oct. 15, 2021) – The ETSU men’s soccer team returns to Southern Conference play this Saturday when the Buccaneers head to Virginia to take on VMI. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Patchin Field.

  • ETSU is coming off a hard-fought 2-1 setback at Georgia State on Tuesday night … Following the setback, ETSU moved to 3-5-3 overall. 
  • The Bucs are eyeing their first conference win of the season as ETSU is 0-1-2 … The Bucs have recorded draws in their last two SoCon games – a scoreless result to Mercer and a 3-3 result to Wofford. 
  • Sophomore Tarik Pannholzer (Flensburg, Germany) had his run of two-score games come to an end Tuesday night in Atlanta … Pannholzer recorded two shots against the Panthers. 
  • Pannholzer leads the club with nine goals and 19 points … His nine goals are two shy of the tying the program record. 
  • Gabriel Ramos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored the Bucs’ lone goal on Tuesday night … The goal was his first collegiate goal, while he has recorded at least one point in back-to-back games.
  • Josh Perryman (Sheffield, England) needs four saves to get to 200 for his career … Perryman needs eight more to tie Jonny Sutherland’s (2015-17) record of 204. 


  • VMI has dropped 12 of its 13 games this season with the lone win coming against at Eastern Mennonite back on Sept. 28. 
  • VMI has not won a Division I game since Sept. 5, 2014 when the Keydets defeated UNC Ashville 1-0. 
  • The Keydets haven’t won a conference game (Big South) since taking down UNC Asheville 1-0 back on Oct. 26, 2013. 
  • VMI is being outscored 48-5 this season and are being outscored 19-1 during its three-match losing streak. 
  • Nathan Lam has scored three of VMI’s five goals this season and has taken 25 of the Keydets’ 91 shots. 


  • ETSU has won all 13 games in the series. 
  • The Bucs have shutout the Keydets in 10 of the 13 games, including the last five meetings.


ETSU wraps up its four-game road swing next Saturday when the Bucs travel to Greenville, S.C., to take on Furman. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
