JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.-- Senior Gustavo Gomez and the doubles team of freshman David Poole and sophomore Francisco Diaz were in action Saturday from the Tennessee Fall Classic from Knoxville, Tenn.
Gomez, ranked 65th in the nation, defeated Wade Orr of Tennessee 7-5, 6-2 in first-round play. In the second round, Gomez was defeated by 23rd ranked Peter Handoyo, also of Tennessee. Gomez matched up against another Volunteer in the third round as he fell to 39th ranked Paul Podbury 6-4, 6-3. In the fourth round, Gomez defeated 86th ranked Jerome LeBelicard of Mississippi 6-4, 6-1.
In the doubles portion of the draw, Poole and Diaz fell in the first round to Silva and Krimer of Boston College in a walkover.
Competition from the Tenessee Fall Classic will conclude Sunday from Knoxville, Tenn.
