East Tennessee State Men's Tennis Takes Part in South Carolina Fall Invitational

Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State men's tennis team is in Columbia, South Carolina as they take part in the University of South Carolina Fall Invitational held at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center.

In first-round A1 singles action, Juan Yannuzzi defeated Clemson's Micah Thompson by default. He then was defeated by Trevor Spracklin of William and Mary 1-6,2-6. In the consolation draw Yannuzzi defeated Clemson's Damisa Robinson 7-5,4-6,7-6.

Marcos Pavlovich also competed in the A1 singles draw by beating Georgia Tech's Roger Anderson 5-7,6-3,6-4. Pavlovich will move on to the second-round and will play at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Pablo Sahagun also was in action as he defeated UNC Greensboro's Marcio Torres 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 in the second-round. Sahagun will move on to the quarterfinals with 10:00 a.m. match on Saturday. Roberto Fernandez won his first round match over USC-Spartanburg's Rodolfo Castro 6-2,6-2. He advanced to the third round with a 7-5,6-2 win over South Carolina's Rob Cassidy.

Francisco Diaz was defeated in the B2 singles draw by Francis Marion's Lewellyn King 5-7,7-6,2-6. He will participate in the consolation draw on Saturday. David Poole was also in action as he was defeated by Virginia Tech's Kevin Reichert 4-6,7-6,4-6. In consolation play he defeated John Stone of Armstrong State 6-1,6-2.
