Picardo advances at UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (September 29, 2006) - ETSU's Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) advanced to the quarterfinals at the UNC Invitational Friday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.

 

Competing in Flight A-1 singles Picardo defeated Jack Notten of High Point, 6-3, 6-1. He will face Will Plyer of North Carolina in quarterfinals action.

 

In Flight A-2 singles Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) fell to Alex Stone of Duke in the round of 16, 6-4, 6-3. He will face George Kernodle of Wofford on Saturday in consolation play.

 

Also competing in consolation play on Saturday is freshman Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) after falling to Louis Lavalle of Maryland after a hard fought match, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. He will take on Dmitry Lumpkin of South Carolina State.
