TULSA, Okla. (May 20, 2008) - The NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee selected the field for the 2008 singles championships today, and junior Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) will take on Alexandru Cojanu (William and Mary) Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, located on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
Olivares is currently ranked 57th in the ITA Collegiate Rankings and he helped guide the Bucs to back-to-back Atlantic Sun Championships by posting a 25-7 record on the season. During the season, Olivares defeated then No. 43 Austen Childs of
The 2008 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and Tournament MVP becomes only the second member of the ETSU men's tennis program to represent the Bucs in the NCAA singles championships. Olivares joins head coach Yaser Zaatini as the only two players to accomplish the feat in school history.
"I am very proud to have Enrique represent ETSU in this championship field," commented Zaatini, who has guided the Bucs to back-to-back NCAA appearances. "To be able to be one of the 64 players in this tournament is an incredible achievement, and he (Enrique) deserves to be here after having such a great year."
Cojanu - Olivares' first round opponent - garnered a berth in the 64-player singles field for the first time in his career as well. Cojanu, who is ranked No. 109 in the country, owns 17 singles victories for the Tribe this season and is ranked ninth in school history with 78 career singles wins.

All matches shall be the best of three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games all will be used for all matches.
