TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2007) - The Buccaneer men's tennis team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Seminole Invitational hosted by Florida State University on Friday. Action will continue on Saturday with two rounds of singles.
Competing in the Flight B draw Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) defeated Michael Moore of Florida A&M, 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 32 before falling to Jonathan Wong of Columbia in a hard fought three set match, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
"Alex played a very good match this morning and was able to pull it out after getting into a little bit of trouble in the second set. In his second match his opponent was a very good ball striker and just overpowered him a bit in the first set. He was able to battle back to take the second set but in the third set his opponent just stepped it up," said assistant coach Johan Dorfh.
Also competing in Flight B singles, Alex Apell (
"Apell also played very hard and looked pretty good after coming off of surgery," said Dorfh.
Competing in his first match as a Buccaneer Jason Ramski (
"It was good to see Jason pick up his first win at ETSU and hopefully he'll be able to carry that momentum into tomorrow's match," added Dorfh.
