TULSA,
Serrano took on No. 61 Dominik Mueller of Baylor and cruised to an easy, 6-4, 6-2 victory to advance. He will take on the winner of the match between No. 88 Andrei Daescu of
"Sebastian played outstanding and got up early in the first set and in the second set he just took control in the very first game. He just pressed the throttle and never let go, beating his opponent quickly in the second set," said assistant coach Johan Dorfh. "It's a huge win for him and probably the biggest of his career at ETSU so far and he will look to continue tomorrow. I think he has a lot of potential to win another round or two and move into the main draw."
Also competing in the qualifying draw junior Enrique Olivares (
"Enrique played very well starting out but the longer the match went on the other guy stepped up his game. In the third set Enrique had some opportunities but some key points just didn't go his way. He played well and we will look for him to get ready to play again in the next tournament," added Dorfh.
Serrano and Olivares will team up for qualifying doubles action which will begin tomorrow. They will face Kevin Dessauer and Jan Zelezny of LSU.
