The match will be played at the Country Club of Bristol due to ETSU hosting the A-Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2009) - After spending its first five matches of the season on the road the ETSU men's tennis team won't have to travel far for its home opener as the Bucs welcome in-state rival Middle Tennessee with a 3: 00 p.m., match Thursday inside the Country Club of Bristol in nearby Bristol, Tenn.

ETSU (1-3) enters the contest after dropping a tough 5-2, decision at third-ranked Georgia just over a week ago. The Bucs upset bid fell just short against the Bulldogs as the defending back-to-back NCAA Champions railed in the singles matches after ETSU swept the doubles point. So far this season the Bucs have faced a vicious non-conference schedule which includes road matches against fifth-ranked Virginia, eighth-ranked Tennessee and neutral contests against 22nd-ranked North Carolina, 31st-ranked Wisconsin and 36th-ranked Duke.

Individually, freshman Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belgium) looks to continue his red-hot play after leading the Bucs with a 4-2 singles record this spring. The ETSU newcomer has not dropped a set in two out of his last three singles matches defeating Josh Varlea of Georgia and Peter Marrack of Wisconsin.

MTSU (2-2) enters the contest after dropping a 5-2, decision at 28th-ranked Vanderbilt last Saturday. The Blue Raiders are led by junior Robert McKenzie who sits at 4-0 in dual matches and 7-0 on the season.
