KENNESAW, Ga. (April 1, 2011) - The ETSU men's tennis team swept through both doubles and singles play as the Bucs shut out Kennesaw State, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Laurel Park Tennis Center.

With the win ETSU improves to 14-6 overall and 8-1 in A-Sun play, while the Owls fall to 9-11 overall and 3-6 in league play. The Bucs remain knotted with UNF at the top of the A-Sun with just one match remaining. ETSU will earn at least a share of the A-Sun regular season title with a victory over Mercer tomorrow.

"We had a couple guys a little hurt today, but the freshmen really came through for us," said ETSU Director of Tennis Yaser Zaatini. "Everybody else performed at the level expected. We played well but we have a tough match tomorrow against Mercer and hopefully the guys will be up for the test."

ETSU jumped out to the early 1-0 lead after taking the opening doubles point. The ETSU pair of
Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belgium) and Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) picked up an 8-6 win at the No. 1 position over Simon Janik and Elliot Kahler. Juan Ramirez (Asuncion, Paraguay) and Robin Akser (Ornskoldsvik, Sweden) defeated Gokalp Ozdemir and Gianni Kubin, 8-6, at the No. 2 position.
