WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Oct. 12, 2012) – Sophomore Fernando Amon (Buenos Aires, Argentina) defeated Elon’s Ismael Sanchez 6-3, 6-4 to highlight ETSU’s performance on day one of the WFU Fall Invite.
Amon and fellow classmate Connor Knox (Bristol, Tenn.) are ETSU’s two participants in the tournament. Knox lost his opening round singles match to Norfolk State’s Peter Pello 7-6 (7-0), 6-4, and will work his way through the back draw starting on Saturday.
Amon and Knox also teamed up in the C Doubles flight, but fell to UNC Greensboro’s duo of Flynn and Mack 8-5. The ETSU tandem rebounded, winning their back draw match against Longwood’s team of Johnson and Fudge 8-6.
Aaron Wicker awaits Amon in Saturday’s D1 Singles flight quarterfinal round. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
