WILMINGTON, N.C. (Nov. 3, 2012) – The ETSU men’s tennis team struggled against UNC Wilmington, dropping all six singles matches on Saturday at the Seahawk Fall Invitational, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the UNCW Tennis Complex.
After going 5-1 against Davidson in singles on Friday, the Bucs were swept by the Seahawks, with only sophomore Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) managing to win a set. Ribeiro came close to taking his match in the No. 2 hole, but was unable to pull out a second-set tiebreak which would have put away Chris Cooprider.
In doubles, the Buccaneers saw success in taking two of three matches against Davidson. Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) and Jorge Varon (Valencia, Venezuela) were able to win convincingly, 8-2, in the top match, while Ribeiro and Roger Ordeig (Gurb, Spain) won 8-6 on court two.
The Bucs conclude the Seahawk Invite on Sunday, taking on UNCW in doubles at 10 a.m., and Boston College in singles at 11:15 a.m.
