Bucs pick up pair of singles wins, split doubles
ATHENS, Ga. (Nov. 10, 2012) – ETSU men’s tennis junior Roger Ordeig (Gurb, Spain) and sophomore Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) continued the UGA Bulldog Scramble on Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Center, winning their respective singles matches and splitting a pair in doubles.
Each Buccaneer played one singles bout, with Ordeig defeating Georgia’s Will Oliver in straights 6-4, 6-2. Ribeiro improved upon his impressive fall as well, taking out Kentucky’s Maks Gold 6-4, 6-4.
The duo posted a 1-1 mark in doubles, beginning with a loss in round one to UGA’s pair of Pasha and Nunez, 8-3. The rebound came in round two, defeating Alabama’s Kenyon and Conlon convincingly, 8-4.
“I don’t think the guys played as well as they did yesterday, but they hung tough,” Director of ETSU Tennis Yaser Zaatini said. “They’re still finding their rhythm, but I’d like to finish off strong and on a positive note to get a good start for the spring.”
Ordeig and Ribeiro continue action on Sunday in the tournament’s final day of action.
