JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 7, 2014) – As the spring semester approaches, ETSU student-athletes will look to build upon an impressive number of academic achievements during the 2013 fall semester.

Of the 296 Buccaneer student-athletes, 197 (67 percent) were named to the Buccaneer Honor Roll for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall. In addition, the program also set new record highs with 96 student-athletes earning Dean’s List recognition after posting GPAs of 3.7 or higher, while a program-best 36 students attained perfect 4.0 GPAs.

ETSU’s overall cumulative student-athlete GPA of 3.21 during the fall was also higher than that of non-athletes at ETSU (3.0 GPA).

“We are really pleased with the continued improvement and ongoing excellence shown by our ETSU student-athletes in the classroom,” said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Richard Sander. “These numbers are an indication of not only the hard work of our student-athletes, but also the quality support provided to them by our coaches and staff – in particular our academic services area.”
