CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., and SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 18, 2014) - The ETSU men's and women's tennis teams will continue fall competition this weekend, as the men's team travels to Charlottesville, Va., for the UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational, while the women's squad visits Spartanburg, S.C., to take part in the USC Upstate Fall Classic.

UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational

Sept. 19-21

The men's tennis team will look to build on a solid, season-opening performance in last weekend's Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.

To open the fall season, Conner Huertas (Lima, Perua) and Sebastian Yllera (Cinco Saltos, Argentina) earned the Division II Doubles title at the Southern Intercollegiates, knocking off opponents from schools such as Arkansas and Vanderbilt along the way.

Meanwhile, David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain), Diego Nunez (Monterrey, Mexico), and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sau Paulo, Brazil) each advanced to the Round of 32 in singles play.

This weekend's UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational will begin Friday, Sept. 19 and conclude Sunday, Sept. 21.

USC Upstate Fall Classic

Sept. 19-21

The women's squad will visit the campus of former Atlantic Sun opponent USC Upstate for the three-day USC Upstate Fall Classic, which will take place Sept. 19-21.

Last weekend, senior Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) advanced to the A-1 Singles flight final at the Elon Fall Invitational before rain cancelled the conclusion of the tournament.

The Bucs also saw two players, freshmen Ionna Markesini (Athens, Greece) and Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverley, Australia), advance to the backdraw finals of their respective singles flights, with Viccars winning the final, while Markesini's match was rained out.

Senior Jessica Brumit (Elizabethton, Tenn.) finished third in the A-3 singles flight.
