CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Oct. 3, 2014) - Two ETSU doubles teams took home doubles flight titles Friday during Day One of the UVa Fall Classic in Charlottesville, Va. All three ETSU doubles teams in action advanced to the finals of their respective flights.

Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) teamed with Ismael Merino (Lima, Peru) to win the White Doubles flight, outlasting Cornell's tandem of Vrabel and Vinti, 8-7 (4), in the flight final. The ETSU duo coasted to wins in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, dropping just three games between the two victories over doubles teams from George Washington and Norfolk St.

In the Blue Doubles flight, Sebastian Yllera (Cinco Saltos, Argentina) and Conner Huertas (Lima, Peru) captured the flight title, knocking off opponents from nationally-respected programs Cornell, VCU, and Princeton.

"The guys showed a lot of fighting spirit today," ETSU head coach Yaser Zaatini said. "I can't remember the last time two Buccaneer tandems won two championships in the same week and the same tournament."

Friday's Blue Doubles title is the second doubles flight title of the fall for Yllera and Huertas, who took home the Division II Doubles title at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga., last month.

Also in action for ETSU Friday was the doubles tandem of Ricardo Pabon (Bogota, Columbia) and Umberto Setter (Bedano, Switzerland). The duo advanced to the finals of the Gold Doubles flight before fallowing narrowly to Chargill and Huang of William & Mary, 8-7 (5), in the flight final.

The Bucs will look to carry Friday's success into Day Two of the UVa Fall Classic, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 4.

"We are making some good progress," Zaatini said. "Assistant coaches Ricky [Rojas] and Roger [Ordeig] are helping extract the last ounces of talent from these guys. I am so proud of today's results. Tomorrow is another day."
