CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Oct. 5, 2014) - The ETSU men's tennis team wrapped up play in the UVa Fall Invite Sunday, with senior Fernando Amon (Buenos Aires, Argentina) winning the consolation title in the Red Singles flight.

After falling in the flight's opening round, Amon responded by winning his next three matches, defeating opponents from University of Maryland (Baltimore Co.), George Washington, and Liberty en route to winning the consolation title.

Three ETSU players advanced to the semifinals of their respective singles flights, with Sebastian Yllera (Cinco Saltos, Argentina) finishing third in the White Singles flight, and Ricardo Pabon (Bogota, Columbia) placing fifth in the Black Singles flight. Ismael Merino (Lima, Peru) finished sixth in the Black Singles flight.

Yllera, Pabon, and Merino were each edged in three sets in their respective semifinal matches.

Meanwhile, Conner Huertas (Lima, Peru) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) both finished fifth in the Orange and Blue Singles flights, respectively.

Friday, Huertas teamed with Yllera to win the Blue Doubles flight title, while Ribeiro paired with Merino to win the White Doubles title.

Also in action for the Bucs was redshirt freshman Umberto Setter (Bedano, Switzerland), who placed fifth in the consolation bracket of the Gold Singles flight.

ETSU will continue fall competition this coming weekend as the Bucs take part in the Wake Forest Invitational (Oct. 10-12) in Winston Salem, N.C.
