MACON, Ga. (April 9, 2015) - The No. 69 ETSU men's tennis team will look to extend its six-match win streak this weekend as the Bucs visit league opponents Mercer and Chattanooga. The Buccaneers, winners of nine of their last ten matches, are 3-0 in conference competition this season.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE
Friday, April 10 at Mercer - 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, April 11 at Chattanooga - 12:00 p.m. | LIVE STATS
GETTING UP TO SPEED
Since enduring a challenging non-conference slate that featured five ranked opponents within ETSU's first seven matches, the 69th-ranked Buccaneers (10-7, 3-0 SoCon) have posted a 9-1 record, with the lone loss coming on the road to No. 5 Georgia.
ETSU is one of just two unbeaten teams remaining in the Southern Conference alongside Furman, which has posted a 4-0 league record thus far.
Three ETSU players are in the midst of win streaks of at least five matches: David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain), and co-captains Ismael Merino (Lima, Peru) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
Biosca, Merino, Ribeiro, and Sebastian Yllera (Cinco Saltos, Argentina) are each unbeaten in SoCon singles play.
Meanwhile, the doubles team of Yllera and Conner Huertas (Lima, Peru) has won five consecutive matches.
OPPONENTS AT A GLANCE
The Mercer Bears (11-11, 4-1 SoCon) have won four consecutive matches, with three of those coming against conference opponents. Mercer is 5-1 at home this season.
Meanwhile, the Mocs (4-13, 1-4 SoCon) of Chattanooga are in the midst of a three-match losing streak. Chattanooga has posted a 1-4 mark at home on the year.
