CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 11, 2015) - Just one day after shutting out league opponent Mercer, 7-0, the 69th-ranked ETSU men's tennis team blanked Chattanooga by an identical margin Saturday, remaining unbeaten in Southern Conference competition and clinching the Bucs' eighth-consecutive victory.

No. 69 ETSU, which has won 11 of its last 12 contests, has earned 7-0 victories in three of its last four matches.

The Buccaneers (12-7, 5-0 SoCon) wasted no time establishing themselves Saturday, displaying the effort and competitiveness that helped to vault them to the top of the SoCon standings as they captured all three doubles posititions by 8-4 margins.

"We were a little banged up from yesterday, but the boys came out to play," ETSU head coach Yaser Zaatini said. "Chattanooga is a great team, but is having a tough year. We wanted to make sure and jump out to the early lead, and we did."

Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain) earned the duo's fourth-consecutive doubles victory, defeating John Peacey and Lucas Plesky, 8-4, at the top doubles spot. Meanwhile, Ismael Merino (Lima, Peru) and Diego Nunez (Monterrey, Mexico) notched their third-straight win, knocking off Pavels Grigorjevs and Nic Wilson at No. 2 Doubles, 8-4.

At No. 3 Doubles, Sebastian Yllera (Cinco Saltos, Argentina) and Conner Huertas (Lima, Peru) earned their sixth win in their last seven matches with an 8-4 victory versus Luke Saunders and Nick Wingord.

ETSU continued to battle, translating its success in doubles play into six straight-set, singles victories, clinching the Bucs' eighth-straight victory.

"We carried the momentum into singles play and managed to take the match," Zaatini said.

Yllera clinched the win for ETSU with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3 Singles, marking his fifth-consecutive win.

Meanwhile, Biosca extended his team-best singles win streak to eight matches, dispatching Lucas Plesky, 6-0 6-0, at the No. 1 position.

Merino and Ribeiro also pushed their own singles win streaks to seven and six matches, respectively.

Redshirt junior Ricardo Pabon (Bogota, Colombia) epitomized the Bucs' victory with a hard-fought, 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory at No. 6 Singles.

The Buccaneers, who have posted an 11-1 record since Feb. 14, will conclude regular-season play next weekend as the Bucs host league opponents The Citadel Friday, April 17 and Furman Saturday, April 18.

ETSU is one of just two unbeaten teams remaining in the Southern Conference along with Furman (6-14, 4-0 SoCon).
