ETSU sophomore tabbed SoCon POTW for second time in four weeks

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 14, 2015) – ETSU's David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain) has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played April 6-12. It is the second time this season Biosca has earned the award after taking home the honor March 24.  The sophomore was a perfect 4-0 in all competition last week as the Bucs earned conference sweeps over Mercer (April 10) and Chattanooga (April 11).

Biosca extended his team-best win streak to eight matches in singles play as he earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Mercer’s Oliver Snaider before claiming a 6-0, 6-0 win over UTC’s Lucas Plesky.  Biosca is now 12-5 in singles play this spring and 5-0 in conference matches.

The tandem of Biosca and Rogerio Ribeiro competed at No. 1 doubles and earned wins over Mercer’s Arnav and Arsav Mohanty (8-3) and Chattanooga’s Plesky and John Peacey (8-4) to run their record to 9-7 together, including a 3-1 mark in SoCon matches.

ETSU (12-7, 5-0 SoCon) will host The Citadel Friday, April 17 before taking on Furman Saturday, April 18 to close out the regular season.
