TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 3, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team went 3-1 in day one of pre-qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships. The Bucs will return to the court Sunday as they continue to try to qualify for the tournament.
Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) picked up wins in straight sets and Diego Nunez (Monterrey, Mexico) picked up the lone three-set victory with a win over Brendan Tannenbaum of Dartmouth. ETSU’s only defeat Saturday occurred when Florida’s McClain Kessler knocked off Ricardo Pabon (Bogota, Columbia): 6-4, 6-1.
With the results Saturday, ETSU has three matches Sunday. Ribeiro will take on Sebastian Rey of Tulane, while Herrera and Nunez will take Lars De Boer of William & Mary and Kai Lemke of Memphis, respectively.
