Bucs close out play at the ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 6, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team closed out play at the ITA All-American Championships Tuesday afternoon. The Bucs, who went 1-2 on the final day, finished the event with a combined 8-8 overall record in singles and doubles competition.

In their first doubles action of the event, the pair of Bucs teams were matched up against a team from Arkansas and SMU. The team of Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Diego Nunez (Monterrey, Mexico) defeated the Razorback duo of William Albanese and Joham den Toom: 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5). Nunez and Herrera’s run would end in the following run when USF’s team of Dominic Cotrone and Sasha Gozun won a three-set tilt: 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (5).

In ETSU’s other match of the day, the team of David Biosca (San Fruitos de Bage, Spain) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) fell to the team of Nate Lammons and Arkadijs Slobodkins of SMU: 7-6 (5) and 6-4.

The Bucs will return to the court this weekend when they travel to Winston Salem, N.C. to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational.
