MADISON, Wis. (Feb. 3 2018) –The ETSU men’s tennis team played their fifth consecutive match on the road and fell to Wisconsin 4-2 at the Nielson Tennis Stadium.
The Bucs were swept in doubles action, as Wisconsin was able to get the advantage and earned the doubles point. Wisconsin grabbed a singles win to add to their campaign, but David Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain) defeated Chase Colton 6-2, 6-2 to put the Bucs on the board. ETSU kept things rolling after Juan Lugo (Maracay, Venezuela) defeated Lamar Remy 7-6, 6-3 to tie the match. At the No. 4 spot, Frazier Rengifo (Cali, Colombia) put up a fight and pushed a third set, but fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to Daniel Soyfer. Miguel Este (Caracas, Venezuela) battled through a tough set, but was defeated 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0. Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) was in the middle of a three-set battle, but Wisconsin picked up the win before he was able to finish.
ETSU will continue to play on the road when they travel to take on VCU next Saturday, Feb. 10 at 10:00 a.m.
