The Bucs will play two matches on the road

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 22, 2018) –  The ETSU men’s tennis team return to action this weekend, as they will play back-to-back matches on the road. They look to stay undefeated in the conference when they take on Furman on Friday, March 21. ETSU will also play UNC-Wilmington on Sunday, March 25 in a non-conference battle.

About the Bucs

After about two weeks off from play, the Bucs return to action, as they come into the weekend with a 7-5 overall record and are undefeated in the SoCon with SoCon wins over UNCG and Samford. Senior Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) was recently named the SoCon Player of the Month for his outstanding efforts in the month of February. He currently holds a 7-4 record in singles. Sergi Fontcuberta (Barcelona, Spain), David Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain) and Frazier Rengifo (Cali, Colombia) each have eight wins in doubles. The Bucs are 40-23 in singles and 18-14 in doubles. Herrera and Fontcuberta are 5-1 at the No. 2 doubles spot.

The Paladins enter Friday’s match with a 12-4 record and are 1-0 in the SoCon with their first conference win coming from The Citadel. Furman has won their last three matches and are undefeated at home. The 11-man roster of the Paladins spread the wealth in singles. Ivan Mitric has nine wins, followed by Jake Bhangdia, Cameron Green, Drew Singerman, and Daniel Vishnick who each have eight wins apiece. As a team, the Paladins are 56-33 in singles and 22-20 in doubles.

UNCW currently has an overall record of 11-2. They are 8-0 at home and have won their last five matches. As a team, the Seahawks are 46-26 in singles and 20-11 in doubles.
