NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s tennis team saw its involvement in the ITA Ohio Valley regional come to an end in the quarterfinals in Nashville, Tenn. on Sunday afternoon. Juan Lugo (Maracay, Venezuela) and Frazier Rengifo (Cali, Colombia) dropped matches in their respective quarterfinal draws.
Rengifo squared off against James Story of Memphis in the winner’s bracket, dropping a hard-fought three-set match. The Colombia native dropped the first set 6-3 before rebounding with a 6-4 win in the second frame. Rengifo and Story went toe-to-toe in the third set before the Memphis competitor pulled away for the 6-4 victory in the third set.
Lugo withdrew from his match against Tomasz Dudek of Purdue in the consolation quarterfinals, concluding his ITA Regional tournament.
The Bucs will wrap up fall play at the CCB Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. from Nov. 1-3,
