Bednarczyk named Management & Marketing’s Most Outstanding Undergraduate Student

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 29, 2020) – ETSU Men’s Tennis redshirt-senior Dylan Bednarczyk (Ontario, Canada) has been selected as ETSU’s Department of Management and Marketing’s outstanding undergraduate management student for the 2019-20 academic year.

"To be recognized for my accomplishments inside and out of the classroom fills me with gratitude and appreciation,” stated Bednarczyk. “However, what cannot go unnoticed are the people around me who have helped me obtain my potential. Coach Martin Stiegwardt and the academic staff within the ETSU athletics department have played a significant role in my success. My teammates and I are very lucky to have a coach that is able to balance a schedule that allows us to fulfil our potential in our sport and in the classroom. Coach Stiegwardt is a great leader and we are very thankful to have him around. I hope that every student-athlete is able to look at my accomplishment and realize that this is not an individual award. Every day many people help athletes in different ways and their help will always be a huge part of our success."

Bednarczyk was chosen by vote of the faculty within the Department of Management and Marketing. Faculty were provided with a list of potential students and asked to comment on their top choices. The men’s tennis student-athlete was consistently mentioned by the faculty as the deserving candidate.

“Dylan was chosen by a vote of the faculty based on his commitment to excellence in the classroom and his outstanding work ethic,” stated Dr. Gorman, Chair of the Department of Management and Marketing. “He always gives 100% and is a joy to have in the classroom.”

“We’re very proud of Dylan for this award,” commented Coach Stiegwardt. “Student-athletes have such demanding schedules and for him to be able to win this award among thousands of students is very impressive. I always push the guys hard, not only on the court, but also in their academic studies. Dylan is extremely hard on himself in the classroom and it has paid off.”

Bednarczyk will now be nominated for the College of Business and Technology Most Outstanding Undergraduate Student award.
