Bucs Announce Men’s Tennis Schedule

ETSU returns to the court on Jan. 19

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 12, 2021) – East Tennessee State Men’s Tennis Head Coach Martin Stiegwardt has officially announced his much-anticipated 2021 Spring schedule on Tuesday morning.

The Bucs will kick off the season on the road for four consecutive matches, beginning with a showdown at Wake Forest on Jan. 19. The contest against the Demon Deacons will be ETSU’s first dual match since the Blue & Gold’s 4-1 victory over No. 46 Clemson on March 7, 2020. ETSU’s four-match road trip will conclude on Feb. 7 at William & Mary.

The Bucs will jump start the home season on Feb. 15 at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex when they play host to Radford at 2 p.m. Overall, the Blue & Gold will compete in 11 non-conference matches, with Radford being the lone non-conference home outing.

Following the match against the Highlanders, ETSU will travel to UNCG on Feb. 28 for the 2021 Southern Conference opener. Three of the Bucs’ first three SoCon matches will be on the road: UNCG (Feb. 28), Wofford (March 12) and Mercer (March 17).

Following the Mercer match, the Bucs will remain in Central Georgia as ETSU squares off against Georgia State on March 19.

ETSU will return back to Johnson City on March 26 at 2 p.m. for a battle against SoCon foe, Furman. Two days later, the Bucs will host Samford at 11 a.m. The final home match at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex will be on April 9 as ETSU host The Citadel at 2 p.m. for the final SoCon battle of the season for the Blue & Gold.

The Bucs will close the regular season the following day on April 10 at Elon in a match that is set to commence at 1 p.m.

The 2021 SoCon Championship will be held on April 23-25 in Birmingham, Ala. The Bucs enter the season having claimed two consecutive conference titles (2018 & 2019). The 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
