JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 8, 2021) – For the first time this season, the ETSU Men’s Tennis team will be playing a dual match in Johnson City, Tenn. The Bucs will open their home season tomorrow at 2 p.m. with a non-conference battle against the Highlanders of Radford.
About the Bucs
ETSU picked up its first win on Sunday, Feb. 28 when the Bucs outlasted UNCG in the Southern Conference opener, 4-3. The Bucs were set to compete in Lubbock, Texas this past weekend but cancelled the event due to weather. The Blue & Gold are now set to play host to the Highlanders at 2 p.m. at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.
Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) continues to lead the team with a 4-2 singles record, accounting for four of the team’s 10 singles victories. Badra has done most of his damage in the No. 3 singles slot, holding a 2-1 record. Thiago Pernas (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Frazier Rengifo (Cali, Colombia) and Juan Sebastian Zabala (Guayaquil, Ecuador) each have two singles wins apiece.
Ready for Radford
Radford enters the midweek match with a 2-1 overall mark, most recently dropping a 7-0 decision at Liberty on Saturday, March 6. The Highlanders defeated a common foe as the Bucs, besting UNCG by the final of 6-1 on March 1.
