ETSU SAAC Continues Clothing Drive Efforts

Clothing Drive runs through Dec. 1; Items to be donated to Salvation Army

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2022) – As we approach the Holiday season, the ETSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is reminding Buccaneer fans and the Johnson City community that they are continuing to hold its Cold Weather Clothing Drive, which runs through Thursday, Dec. 1.  

The clothing drive, which is being led by ETSU student-athletes, got underway last month in conjunction with Homecoming. The Buccaneer SAAC is collecting winter clothes to be donated to the Salvation Army of Johnson City in early December. The list of items the group is collecting includes:

  • Blankets
  • Scarves
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Jackets/Coats
  • Handwarmers
  • Socks
  • Backpacks

The donations can be gently used items (need to be washed) or new winter clothing items. Below is a list of dates and locations where drop boxes will be located.

  • Saturday, Nov. 12ETSU Football vs. Western Carolina, 1 p.m. – Donation boxes located at the East Tennessee Arch entrance of Greene Stadium
  • Thursday, Nov. 17ETSU Men’s Basketball vs. Arkansas Little-Rock, 7 p.m. – Donation boxes located at the main entrance of Freedom Hall as well as inside the Courtside Club
  • Thursday, Dec. 1ETSU Women’s Basketball vs. Vanderbilt, 7 p.m. – Donation boxes located at the main entrance of Brooks Gym
  • Nov. 8-Dec. 1Donation boxes will also be set up at the Mary V. Jordan Multicultural Office, located on the second floor of the D.P. Culp Center
