Men’s tennis looks to end skid in Colorado Springs

Bucs to face Abilene Christian Friday; Air Force Saturday 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 26, 2023) – The ETSU men’s tennis team will travel 1,432 miles to Colorado Springs for their weekend matchups with Abilene Christian University on Friday at noon and Air Force on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.

Looking for their first win of the season, the Bucs will try to mirror what they did a season ago – win their first match of the season on the fourth match of the year.

ABOUT THE BUCS

  • ETSU enters the weekend with an 0-3 record.
  • ETSU has one singles win and three doubles wins so far.
  • Junior Thiago Pernas (Buenos Aires, Argentina) did not compete last week in Clemson but is the only Buc that remains undefeated, going 3-0 so far.
  • Against nationally ranked doubles opponents, the Bucs are 1-1 as a team.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS

  • ACU enters the weekend with a 2-1 record, winning the previous two.
  • ACU has won both matches by a 7-0 score with matchups against Hardin-Simmons University and Lubbock Christian University.
  • The Wildcats’ loss came against TCU on Jan. 14, with a 1-6 score.

ABOUT THE FALCONS

  • Air Force enters the weekend with a 1-0 record.
  • The Falcons defeated Rice in a tight 4-3 match on Jan. 20.
  • As a team, Air Force owns a 4-2 record in singles matches and a 0-2 record in doubles play.
