Bucs earn back-to-back wins in first home weekend

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2023) – On Sunday afternoon, the ETSU men’s tennis team opened its 2023 conference campaign with a 4-3 win over Samford at the Bristol Sportsplex in Bristol, Tenn. Winning every conference opener since rejoining the SoCon in 2015, the Bucs improve to 2-8 on the year.

In the first flight singles match, Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) dominated his way to a 6-2 victory in set one and a 6-1 victory in set two over Samford’s Mohammed Ali Bellalouna. In the No. 2 singles matchup, Thiago Pernas (Buenos, Aires) battled his way to a hard-fought 7-6 set one victory and a back-and-forth 6-4 point-clinching, set two win.

Earning the Bucs’ final singles point was Pedro Cressoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil.), who knocked off Sandeep Mohandoss in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 6-4.
