SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 28, 2023) – After leading the Bucs to a pair of wins over the weekend, Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) was named the Southern Conference Player of the week, as the league office announced its weekly award on Tuesday afternoon.

Badra finished the weekend a combined 4-0 record in both his singles and doubles matches. The reigning SoCon player of the Year defeated Mario Martinez from Troy in the top flight in two sets with a 6-3 and 6-1 score. In his doubles match with Juan Lombisano (Buenos Aires, Argentina), the pair knocked of the duo of Vito Llinares and Noah Martens in a 6-3 match.

In the conference opener against Samford, Badra dominated the top flight singles with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory over Mohammed Ali Bellalouna. In his duos match with Lombisano, the duo outlasted the partnership of Harrison Williams and Mohammed Ali Bellalouna to finish on a perfect 4-0 over the weekend.

The Bucs will take a break from conference play and host UNC Asheville at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 and host Tennessee Tech on Sunday, March 2 at 1 p.m.
