SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 7, 2023) – Leading the Blue and Gold to their fourth consecutive victory, ETSU men’s tennis standout Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) was named the Southern Conference Player of the week for the second consecutive week and his 12th overall - a Southern Conference men's tennis record, as the league office announced its weekly award on Tuesday afternoon.
The redshirt junior extended his current win streak to four after defeating John Brann Reid from UNC Asheville in a 7-5, 6-3 match on Wednesday and dominating his way to a straight set victory over Tennessee Tech’s Mika Berghaus on Sunday, 6-3, 6-3.
In his only doubles match of the week, the Venezuelan and Adam Nougoudi (Tunis, Tunisia) cruised their way to a 6-1 victory over the pairing of Rara Serra and John Brann Reid from UNC Asheville – earning their second victory as a duo this season.
Badra finished back-to-back weeks undefeated, going 7-0 in the process.
Earning consecutive player of the week awards, Badra makes it the third separate occasion he has done so in his career. The first time occurred in the weeks of April 5- 12, 2021, before happening in the weeks of March 1-8 a season ago.
The Bucs will resume conference play as they travel to UNC Greensboro on Sunday at 1 p.m. to open the first of three straight matches on the road.
