Men’s tennis gears up for trio of road conference matches

Bucs face UNC Greensboro Sunday, Wofford Tuesday and Mercer Thursday  

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 11, 2023) – The ETSU men’s tennis squad will resume conference play with three consecutive road contests, starting with UNCG Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Bucs will take on Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. at 2:30 p.m., before ending the road trip with a matchup with Mercer in Macon, Ga., at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

ETSU at UNCG | Johnson City, Tenn. | 1 p.m. – Sunday, March 12

ETSU at Wofford | Spartanburg, S.C. | 2:30 p.m. – Tuesday, March 14

ETSU at Mercer | Macon, Ga. | 3 p.m. – Thursday, March 16

ABOUT THE BUCS

  • The Bucs hit the road winners of their last four as ETSU has an overall record of, 4-8.
  • In his last four matches, Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) has yet to play a third set, allowing a max of three points.
  • With a 14-18 overall team doubles record, the duo of Pedro Cressoni (Buenos, Aires Argentina) and Francisco Lamas (Maracay, Venezuela) are 4-4 as doubles, winning three of the last four.
  • The Bucs are 0-6 on the road this year; however, ETSU finished last season 3-0 in road conference matches.

ABOUT UNCG

  • The Spartans are 2-9 entering the weekend with a pair of matches against Lees-McRae and Guilford College on Saturday.
  • At home, UNCG has dropped three of its four matches, earning its lone home victory over Longwood, 5-2.
  • The Spartans are 17-46 in singles and 6-22 in doubles matches.
  • Tymofiy Khrystyuk is 4-6 in singles, winning his previous two matches.

ABOUT WOFFORD

  • Wofford enters the weekend with a 4-8 record with a match against North Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
  • The Terriers’ four victories have all come at home, but Wofford has dropped its last three in Spartanburg.
  • As a team, Wofford is 30-40 in singles and 14-15 in doubles matches.
  • In his last 10 matches, Alex Horn is 7-3 and owns a 7-5 singles record to lead the Terriers in individual wins.

ABOUT MERCER

  • The Bears enter the match with a 6-9 record, dropping the last three.
  • Mercer is a perfect 6-0 at home and Thursday will be its conference opener.
  • As a team, the Bears are 33-48 overall in singles and 20-13 in doubles matches.
  • Marceau Foulihoux is 9-3 in singles and is 5-1 when featuring as a double.
