Men’s Tennis Continues Fall Season in North Carolina

ETSU will compete in the three-day Elon Fall Invitational

ELON, N.C. (Sept. 14, 2023) – The ETSU men’s tennis team will continue its fall season this weekend with the Elon Fall Invitational. The three-day Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday with the action resuming at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s play will consist of one round of singles followed by a pair of rounds in doubles. Saturday’s action will include two rounds of singles before the Invitational wraps up on Sunday with the finals in both singles and doubles.

Below are Friday's opening round matches.  

Alberto Garcia (Alicante, Spain) vs. Brett Gloria (UNC Charlotte)

Adam Nagoudi (Tunis, Tunisia) vs. Zac Larke (Charleston)

Milledge Cossu (Miami Beach, Fla.) vs. Saidmin Akbarov (North Carolina A&T)

James Sim (New Zealand) vs. Alex Horn (Wofford)

Peter Kalocsai (Hungary) vs. Esteban Lopez (North Carolina A&T)

Pedro Cressoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil) vs. Matias Iturbe (UNC Charlotte) 

Lucas Britez (Paraguay) received a bye into Saturday's matches where he will face the winner of Boris Lunin (Norfolk State)-Mathieu Dussaubat (North Carolina A&T)

Friday's Doubles 

Garcia/Britez will face the UNC Charlotte duo of Brett Gloria/Peter Glenn

Cossu/Cressoni take on the Wofford duo of Ashe Ray/Jack Deveney

Kalocsai/Nagoudi face Charleston's Mattia Bernardi/Pietro Martinetti 

ETSU began its fall campaign last weekend in Nashville. In matches against players from Belmont, Tennessee Tech, and Lipscomb, the Bucs complied a record of 8-11 in singles play and 5-4 in doubles action.

Following this weekend, the Bucs will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete at the ITA All-American Championships on September 30-October 8.
