Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennesseee State track & field teams excelled as it captured six first-place finishes at the Western Carolina Invitational held Saturday, Mar. 17 in Cullowhee, N.C.
Buccaneer Lauren Campbell turned in a time of 4:47.70 en route to winning the women's 1,500 meters. Fellow teammate Emily Campbell finished third with a time of 4:53.41. In the triple jump, Kristen Truman won first-place by returning a jump of 36'02.25. Tiffany Collier finished second with a jump of 35'08.
Roseline Addo, who has excelled this spring, recorded a second-place finish in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:13.16. Jennifer Howard finished third with a time of 2:20.99.
On the men's side, Jason Farr and Andrew Whitson finished tied for first in the high jump. Each reached a mark of 6'06.00. In the throwing events, Josh Artau finished first in both the shot put and hammer throw. Artau returned a 46'01.5 in the shot put while in the hammer throw recorded a 134'11.00. In the men's 800 meters, Evan Hawkins returned a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:59.42.
The Buccaneers will next travel to take part in the Clemson Relays on Saturday, Mar. 24.
