RALEIGH, N.C. (March 28, 2003) - East Tennessee State University's men's and women's track and field team completed day one of the Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State University. The Raleigh Relays showcase some of the nation's best talent and several Buccaneers were there to compete.
In the women's 100-meters, Buccaneer sophomore Chantelle Vernon (Markham, Ontario) placed 29th finishing the race with a time of 12.29. In the 400-meters ETSU had two athletes competing, juniors Kim Simmons (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Tiffany Collier (Atlanta, Ga.) finished their race with times of 56.59 and 59.06, respectively.
In the men's 100-meters, Marcus Barnes (Memphis, Tenn.) finished with a time of 10.93, while in the 5000-meters Brad Yewer (Newbury, England) and James Grufferty (Glanmire, Ireland) finished the race with times of 14:35.51 and 15:05.72, with Yewer placing 17th.
