JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 17, 2004) - The National Collegiate Division I Track Coaches Association announced today that senior Kristin Truman (Johnson City, Tenn.) and freshman Anna Marie Ricciardi (Canfield, Ohio) were named to the 2004 All-Academic Track and Field Team based on her academic and athletic performances. Academically, Truman finished her final year as a student-athlete at ETSU graduating with a degree in Biology and compiling a cumulative GPA of 3.899 during her career. The SoCon also recognized Truman by naming her to the TIAA-CREF Academic All-Southern Conference Team for the indoor season. Ricciardi, who began her collegiate career this season, posted a 3.61 GPA. She has yet to decide upon a major. Athletically, Truman placed fifth in the long jump at the Appalachian Invitational with a season best mark of 5.49m during the indoor season. She then went on at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships to place fourth in the triple jump (11.92m) and earned all-conference honors with her second-place finish in the pentathlon (3415 total points). She then carried her success into the outdoor season in which she notched an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark in the triple jump of 12.26m. That performance, which placed her third overall at the Vanderbilt Invitational meet, also helped her to be tabbed as the women's track and field athlete of the week. At NCAA Mideast Regionals, Truman recorded her second best jump in the triple jump of 12.18m. Ricciardi made her mark athletically at ETSU during the past season not only by being a two-sport athlete, but also by qualifying for the NCAA Mideast Regionals in the high jump. She finished second at Vanderbilt with a jump of 1.73m and had a jump of 1.72m to finish second in the SoCon Outdoor Championships. Ricciardi was also a major contributor in Lady Bucs Basketball seeing action in all but one contest during the season. The United States Track Coaches Association was created in 1992 by the NCAA Division I, II and III track coaches associations. The USTCA now includes NAIA, Community College, High School and Club Coaches. The USTCA has grown every year and now boasts more than 6,000 member coaches. The USTCA is a not-for-profit association made up of coaches from all aspects of track & field and cross country.
