Williams smashes ETSU pole vault record

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 30, 2006) - Junior Daniel Williams (Knoxville, Tenn.) made good on his hometown appearance on Sunday, smashing the ETSU school record in the pole vault at the Knoxville Invitational at Tom Black Track.

 

Williams' cleared a career-best height of 15-9 (4.80m) to take third place in the competition.    Williams, the only ETSU athlete to compete on Sunday, had previously tied the school record at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships, surpassing 15-5 (4.70m). 

 

Tennessee's Michael Hogue won the event with a mark of 16-10.75 (5.15m), followed by teammate Chris Helwick in second.
