Lynchburg, Va. (Feb. 4, 2006) - Senior sprinter James Rainer (Alcoa, Tenn.) won his second title of the year at the Liberty Record Bash, highlighting another solid outing from the ETSU track & field squad.
Rainer ran a pair of 6.76 times in the 60 meter dash in both the prelims and the finals to claim his second title of the year. It was a particularly impressive performance as he had been battling a quad injury since winning the 60 meter dash title at the Niswonger Invitational two weeks ago.
Sophomore Shane Estes (Maryville, Tenn.) was the top collegiate finisher in the men's high jump with a lifetime indoor best of 1.97 meters.
On the women's side the short distance runners all turned in impressive runs with all three competitors in the 60 meter dash qualifying for the finals. Junior Jenny Knox (Connelly Spring, N.C.), freshman Nae-Nae Bailey (Statesville, N.C.) and sophomore Ebonie Jones (Richmond, Va.) finished third, fifth and seventh, respectively. Knox was the second-place collegiate finisher with a time 7.80 in the finals.
The Bucs are back in action February 11 at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
