AUSTIN, Texas (April 6, 2007) - ETSU sprinter James Rainer (Alcoa, Tenn.) failed to qualify for the 100-meter finals, after a disappointing 12th-place finish Friday at the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

"This is a small setback for James right now as this is his first sub-par performance since competing at ETSU," said associate head coach Michelle Byrne. "We just need to take a step back, reevaluate his performance and get him prepared for his next competition (Sea Relays)."

Rainer, the lone Buccaneer representative at the meet, finished second in his heat with a time of 10.49. Despite running his second-fastest time of the season, Rainer came up short of reaching the finals as his mark placed him 12th overall in the 100-meters.

The rest of ETSU's track and field team will be in competition tomorrow at the Furman Invitational.
