MACON, Ga. (Feb. 7, 2007) - The Atlantic Sun office named co-Athletes of the Week as ETSU's Anna Marie Ricciardi (Canfield, Ohio) and Belmont's Lauren Williams received the honors, which was announced by league officials on Wednesday. Ricciardi received the award for her career-setting performance at the Carolina Invitational on Saturday.
Ricciardi put together a record setting day with her third-place finish in the high jump. The senior jumper posted a NCAA Provisional qualifying mark with a personal-best leap of 5-10 (1.78m), and it also broke Kim Harrell's 27-year-old school record of 5-9. Her previous indoor best came last season at the 2006 Niswonger Invitational when she cleared 5-9.75 (1.75m).
It marked the second time the public relations/marketing major has won the award as she took home the honor last season (1/25/06).
The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the 2007 indoor track season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
