Friday, March 13, 2009

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. (March 13, 2009) - It was by the slimmest of margins, but senior runner Heidi Dahl (Orem, Utah) saw her indoor season come to an end on Friday evening at the 2009 NCAA Track & Field Championships.

Dahl, who needed to finish in the top 10 of the 16-woman field in order to advance to Saturday's final in the mile, placed 11th with a time of 4:42.83 at the McFerrin Athletic Center. Meanwhile, Dahl's time ended up being six hundredths of a second short of making the final cut.

Tennessee's Sarah Bowman won the prelims with a time of 4:39.22, while Lennie Waite from Rice claimed the final spot with a mark of 4:42.77.

Despite not reaching the finals, Dahl enjoyed an impressive indoor season as she set both conference and ETSU marks with her blazing time of 4:39.39 at the Atlantic Sun Championships last month. The time set inside the Memorial Center is also what put the Orem, Utah native into the 2009 NCAA Championships.

The Buccaneer track and field team will now gear up for the 2009 outdoor season, which begins on Thursday, March 26 at the Milligan Relays.
