President Stanton expresses pride in ETSU miler Heidi Dahl

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March, 12, 2009) - On the eve of Heidi Dahl's (Orem, Utah) appearance in the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, East Tennessee State University President Dr. Paul E. Stanton Jr. extends congratulations and good wishes to the ETSU senior.

 

"I am so proud of Heidi as a student-athlete, individual, and runner who was selected this week for the NCAA championships," Stanton said.  "She has performed in stellar fashion on the track this season, and tomorrow, in College Station, Texas, she will represent ETSU and the Buccaneer track and field team in the mile.  I applaud Heidi for this well-deserved honor and wish her the very best in this national competition!"

 

Hosted by Texas A&M University, the championships are scheduled March 13-14 at the McFerrin Athletic Center.

 

Dahl will be in action on Friday at 4 p.m. when she competes in the prelims of the women's mile. The finals will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

 

A total of 568 participants will compete in the championships.  Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic or provisional standards established for each event.
