JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 27, 2011) - The ETSU men's and women's Track and Field teams are set to head to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Open this weekend.
The two-day meet is slated to begin Friday 12:30 p.m. with the multis and conclude around 7 p.m., while Saturday's events are set to start at 9 a.m. with the field events. The running events Saturday are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
"This weekend we are looking for a breakout performance across the board," said assistant coach Eli Sunquist. "Everyone has been looking much better in training, and this is the weekend that we are hoping to really improve upon our conference standings. We will be bringing a full squad for the first time since the December meet, so we are really looking forward to this weekend. It will also be very nice to go head-to-head with Campbell."
The meet features 19 events for the both the men and women including the multi events (heptathlon and pentathlon).
"This will be the first opportunity for our combined event athletes to compete in their full event, and I am really excited about that," Sunquist added. "Jesse Aliaga-Jacob has some experience, but this will be the first time that Stephond Allmond, Chris Winkle, and Taylor Story have even seen an indoor combined event competition, so this will be a great experience for them. I am looking for some big things out of all of them."
