BLACKSBURG, Va. (March 5, 2010) - The ETSU track and field team closed out its indoor season with a couple strong performances Saturday at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier inside the Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va.
"The VT Final Qualifier was a great way to conclude our indoor season," said assistant coach Eli Sunquist. "We had three lifetime bests set during the meet, and we are in great shape heading into the Outdoor season. Jasmine ran an excellent 400m race, and Bethany and Lexie continue to get better each week. Mike ran a good hurdle race, and we were very fortunate to have Ifrish back to run in this meet."
Senior Jasmine Ingram (Fredrick, Md.) broke her own school record in the women's 400m as she finished sixth in the event with a time of 54.78.
Freshmen Bethany Lender (Altoona, Pa.) and Lexie Burley (Johnson City, Tenn.) also had good showings for the women's squad as the pair finished 6-7 posting lifetime-best marks in the triple jump. Lender had the 15th best mark in the country by a freshman with a jump of 39-10, while Burley's jump of 39-0 1/2 qualified her for the USATF Jr. National meet, which will be held at the end of June in Oregon.
On the men's side, senior Mike James (Palm Bay, Fla.) finished fifth in the 60m hurdles after running a time of 8.06. Ifrish Alberg (Paramaribo, Suriname) also bounced back to perform well in the men's 60m dash placing seventh with a time of 6.93.
