Edgecombe sets new ETSU record in 100mH at Florida Relays

Junior edges her previously established record of 13.63 with a time of 13.53

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (April 4, 2014) – Junior Dede Edgecombe (Spartanburg, S.C.) led the Buccaneers’ track & field charge on Friday with an ETSU record 13.53 time in the women’s 100 meter hurdles on day one of the 2014 Pepsi Florida Relays at James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track on the University of Florida campus.

This record-breaking time by the sprinter surpasses the previous record she established in the event of 13.63 at the Charlotte 49er Classic on March 21. On Friday, the time was good for first in her section, sixth among collegiate competitors and 12th overall in the event.

Also breaking into the top-five for the participating Buccaneers on Friday was Katerina Vodova (Humpolec, Czech Republic) leaping to a fourth-place finish in the women’s long jump with a wind-aided mark of 6.02 meters.

Chelsea Clark – women’s 1500 meter run – 4:34.65 (CB) – 26th place

Filip Jalovy – men’s 1500 meter run – 3:57.79 – 28th place

Ryan Jones – men’s 800 meter run – 1:54.92 – 43rd place

Keturah Williams – women’s 100 meter dash – 11.93 (CB) – 46th place

 

Competition will pick back up on Saturday morning with the women’s hammer throw at 10 a.m. Shot put events will conclude field action at the Relays at 5 p.m. Running events will commence on Saturday with relay action and will continue over the course of the day before ending with the 4x400 meter relays around 7 p.m.

For the Bucs, Brett Squibbs (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Lexie Burley (Johnson City, Tenn.) will compete in the pole vault and triple jump, respectively, during the afternoon.
